Job Summary

The Finance Executive is a key contributor to the financial integrity and operational efficiency of Courtyard by Marriott Chennai. This role supports the hotel’s accounting and finance functions by ensuring accuracy in financial records, compliance with company policies, and timely completion of financial processes. The position requires strong attention to detail, ethical judgment, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multiple departments.

As a Finance Executive, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial data, supporting audits, reconciling accounts, and ensuring that all financial documentation is handled securely and professionally. This role plays an essential part in safeguarding company assets and supporting informed business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Record Management & Accuracy

  • Review and verify figures, postings, and financial documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal controls.
  • Organize, secure, and maintain all accounting files, financial records, cash, and cash equivalents in accordance with company policies and audit requirements.
  • Record, store, access, and analyze computerized financial data using approved accounting systems and tools.
  • Classify, code, and summarize numerical and financial information using journals, ledgers, spreadsheets, and accounting software.

Accounting, Reporting & Closing Activities

  • Prepare, maintain, audit, and distribute financial, accounting, payroll, and statistical reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist with period-end and month-end closing procedures, ensuring reports are completed as per defined timelines and standards.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation, schedules, and reconciliations as required.
  • Ensure that financial data is properly documented and retained in compliance with record-keeping policies.

Billing, Invoicing & Accounts Management

  • Prepare, review, reconcile, and issue invoices, bills, and account statements in accordance with company procedures.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and payable, ensuring accurate postings and timely follow-ups.
  • Proactively follow up on overdue accounts, outstanding balances, and vendor invoices until payment is received or issues are resolved.
  • Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to resolve billing discrepancies efficiently and professionally.

Interdepartmental Coordination & Team Support

  • Work closely with other hotel departments to ensure financial processes align with operational activities.
  • Serve as a dependable departmental role model by demonstrating professionalism, accuracy, and accountability in daily tasks.
  • Assist in coordinating work assignments to ensure deadlines are met and quality standards are maintained.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships that support teamwork and shared goals across departments.

Compliance, Ethics & Confidentiality

  • Strictly follow all Marriott International policies, procedures, and ethical standards related to finance and accounting.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary, financial, and employee information at all times.
  • Protect company assets by ensuring proper controls, secure handling of cash, and adherence to approval procedures.
  • Report work-related accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions immediately to the appropriate manager or supervisor.

Communication & Professional Conduct

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues, managers, and external partners, both verbally and in writing.
  • Prepare and review written documents, reports, and correspondence accurately and completely.
  • Answer telephones using appropriate professional etiquette and respond to inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean, professional uniform and personal appearance that reflects brand standards.

Physical & Operational Requirements

  • Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, or place objects weighing up to 10 pounds without assistance.
  • Perform additional reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors to support the finance and hotel operations.

Preferred Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant accounting, finance, or clerical experience.

Supervisory Experience:

  • Not required.

License/Certification:

  • None required.
