Job Summary:
The Front Office Executive plays a vital role in delivering exceptional guest experiences at Courtyard by Marriott Chennai, serving as the first and last point of contact for our guests. This position is responsible for ensuring smooth front desk operations, accurate guest account management, and consistently high service standards that reflect the values and reputation of Marriott International.
As a Front Office Executive, you will combine operational excellence with warm hospitality, ensuring every guest feels welcomed, valued, and cared for throughout their stay. You will also act as a role model for associates, supporting team engagement, service quality, and adherence to Marriott policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Services & Front Desk Operations
- Professionally process all guest check-ins and check-outs, ensuring accurate verification of guest identity, payment methods, room assignment, and key issuance.
- Create and maintain precise guest accounts based on individual requirements, ensuring billing accuracy and proper rate application aligned with market codes and reservations.
- Enter and manage Marriott Bonvoy (Marriott Rewards) information accurately to enhance guest recognition and loyalty experiences.
- Secure payment authorization prior to room key issuance and ensure compliance with established accounting and financial procedures.
- Provide guests with clear information regarding hotel amenities, services, policies, and local attractions, including directions and transportation guidance.
- Proactively anticipate guest needs, respond promptly to requests, and follow up to confirm satisfaction and resolution.
Financial & Cash Handling Responsibilities
- Process all forms of payment, including cash, credit cards, vouchers, paid-outs, and direct billing, with accuracy and integrity.
- Complete cashiering duties, including balancing receipts, preparing drop envelopes, and counting and securing the cash bank at the beginning and end of each shift.
- Compile, review, and submit daily reports, logs, contingency lists, and closing documentation in accordance with Marriott standards.
- Obtain manual authorizations when required and strictly follow all accounting and audit procedures.
- Report any guest claims of theft or loss immediately to Loss Prevention or Security, following established protocols.
Team Support & Leadership
- Assist management in training, mentoring, evaluating, motivating, and coaching front office associates to achieve service excellence.
- Serve as a role model and the first point of contact for the Guarantee of Fair Treatment/Open Door Policy, supporting a respectful and inclusive work environment.
- Foster positive working relationships across departments to support teamwork and achieve shared operational goals.
- Actively listen to employee concerns and communicate effectively with management to support engagement and morale.
Compliance, Safety & Professional Standards
- Adhere to all Marriott International policies, procedures, and brand standards at all times.
- Maintain a clean, professional appearance and uphold grooming standards that reflect the Courtyard brand image.
- Report accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions promptly and complete all required safety training and certifications.
- Ensure confidentiality of proprietary and guest information and protect company assets responsibly.
- Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, including accurate completion of reports and courteous telephone etiquette.
- Use computer systems and POS platforms efficiently to enter, retrieve, and manage guest and operational data.
Physical & Operational Requirements
- Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods during shifts.
- Capability to move, lift, carry, push, or pull objects weighing up to 10 pounds without assistance.
- Flexibility to perform additional reasonable duties as assigned by supervisors to support operational needs.
Preferred Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant front office or hospitality experience.
- At least 1 year of supervisory or team leadership experience is preferred.
Certification:
- No specific license or certification required.
