The Ajanta and Ellora caves are significant sites within 100 kilometres of each other. In those caves, ancient artwork in the form of paintings and sculptures has been preserved as a monument. Both are rock-cut caves with amazing examples of the finest artwork ever done. Ajanta has 30 authentic caves built between the second and sixth centuries. Ellora has 34 caves spanning 2 kilometres, built between the sixth and twelfth centuries. The three prominent religions in India, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Jainism, had temples in these caves with mythological paintings on the rock walls. These two outstanding architectural treasures receive tourists from all around the world.
